The rules allowing young dual-national senior players to change their sporting nationality were relaxed on Friday 18 September at the 70th FIFA Congress.

Having played for one nation will no longer prevent a change of sporting nationality.
Four conditions must nevertheless be met:
► Be under 21 at the time of their last national team appearance.
► The player must not have played more than three matches for their first national team.
► Three years must have elapsed since the last match played for the previous national team.
► Not to have played in the final stage of a World Cup or a continental tournament with their first national team.
