The Court of Arbitration for Sport has just dismissed the Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco, which had appealed against the decision of the Appeals Committee of Confederation of African Football (CAF) concerning the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League final.

It established that the WAC players’ decision not to resume play after the second leg of the final was interrupted in the 59th minute did constitute a withdrawal within the meaning of Article 148 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

The CAF Appeal Board was therefore right to uphold the Disciplinary Board’s decision that WAC had forfeited the second leg of the final.

This decision confirms Espérance Sportive de Tunis, the team that won the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League.
