Only eight women’s football clubs, from across Africa, will have the privilege of competing in the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League, currently taking place in Egypt from 5 to 19 November 2021.
This new competition remains a real step forward for female athletes on the continent.
The Champions League should enable the best women players to compete against one another.
Alongside the creation of the competition, CAF also organised a training course for the 25 referees who will officiate in the Women’s Champions League.
CAF thus becomes the third confederation to establish a Champions League, after Europe (UEFA) and South America (CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores)
