The first signs of recognition for women’s football are finally appearing.
With EUR 284 million in economic benefits for the country, the Women’s Football World Cup generated a net gain of EUR 108 million.
This is the study on the economic and environmental impact of this sporting event, published by the FFF – French Football Federation which revealed the consequences for both these aspects.
These achievements led Noël Le Graët, President of the FFF and the Local Organising Committee, to declare that “the first source of satisfaction is having proved that a women’s football competition can also bring people together, make a contribution, win widespread popular support and help change perceptions and attitudes towards women’s football”.
Highlighting the impact on the local economy and society has further enriched the legacy of women’s football.
