The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has given the US association the green light to hold the US Open from 31 August to 13 September.
Players must now be persuaded to travel to New York, and this already seems out of the question for some of the circuit’s biggest names. While many need to play in this tournament to earn income again after several months of enforced inactivity, others have already openly expressed their opposition to a US Open whose conditions they consider diminished.
