The players and referees in the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Turkish club İstanbul Başakşehir Futbol Kulübü (IBFK) said no to racism.

The match was interrupted after the fourth official made xenophobic remarks towards the Turkish side’s assistant coach, Pierre Achille Webo.

After several minutes of confusion, the match was stopped following a unanimous decision by the players of both teams, who refused to continue playing.

Following this historic first in the European competition, theUEFA, the governing body of continental football, has opened disciplinary proceedings, the outcome of which we await.

There is no doubt that playing behind closed doors enabled us to hear something that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.
