At a time when African refereeing 🙋🏽 is in the spotlight, we believe it is important to remember that there are also positive developments worth highlighting.
Salima Mukansanga became the first woman to referee an Africa Cup of Nations match when she officiated the game between Guinea and Malawi last Monday.
Women continue to advance in refereeing. As a reminder, Lydia Tadesse was the first woman to officiate at a match in an official CAF men’s competition, and Stéphanie Frappart was the first woman to referee at a men’s European Championship.
Refereeing is therefore moving in the right direction: could women be the future of football ⚽️?
