Finally adopted at the end of September 2021, the bill on regulating and protecting access to cultural works in the digital age is intended to give sports channels new tools to combat piracy.
This legislation will be implemented through a new regulator, Arcom (the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication), which is due to be established in January 2022.
Arcom will be responsible for liaising between the judicial authorities, pay-TV channels, rights holders and technical operators to prevent pirate websites from operating, and will be able to take legal action.
