World Athletics, formerly the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), and the International Athletics Foundation (IAF) have announced the creation of a fund to support athletes who have lost most of their income because of the coronavirus crisis. The USD 500,000 allocated will be used to help athletes facing difficulties.
This is a very welcome gesture towards all those athletes deprived of competitions during this period and, consequently, of income. Mr Sebastian Coe will chair a working group of experts responsible for assessing applications for assistance.
