Sportwashing is a process of using sport (whether through a sporting event, a sports team or in general) as a means of improving one's reputation.

By investing large sums in sport, the goal is to compensate for a weakness in its policy or to distract from a bad record, in human rights, for example.

Saudi Arabia, which has opted for this development strategy, finds itself at the heart of a controversy after spending 150 million euros to sponsor the Madrid women's team. At the same time, its policy on women's rights is strongly contested. By positioning itself in this field, this country hopes to restore its image through sportwashing.

Ms Monlouis brings her expert assessment of football overall and globally and on Africa, which remains the focus on our TV channel. Her football knowledge has always impressed me; she can write about it without being a professional athlete in this field. The bonus for me comes from the analyses and legal advice she brings to our audience.
