On Wednesday, May 19, MEPs called on the European Commission to improve the current European framework on intellectual property rights relating to living sports events.

MEPs want:

⁃ that illegal transmissions of sporting events be removed within 30 minutes,

⁃ that arbitrary or excessive blocking of legal content is avoided,

⁃ that new harmonization procedures be introduced. These procedures will allow sporting events to be better protected by European rules relating to intellectual property rights.

FIFPRO calls on the European Commission to follow the recommendations of the European Parliament and introduce the proposed binding legislation.

According to her, in this challenging period, the sector urgently needs precise and practical solutions to fight against piracy which continues to upset the stability of players' contracts and the viability of mechanisms of #solidarity and financing of football.

Ms Monlouis brings her expert assessment of football overall and globally and on Africa, which remains the focus on our TV channel. Her football knowledge has always impressed me; she can write about it without being a professional athlete in this field. The bonus for me comes from the analyses and legal advice she brings to our audience.
