According to a Guardian investigation dated February 23, more than 6,500 migrant workers have died on construction sites during sports facilities since the FIFA World Cup was awarded to Qatar in 2010.

Given Qatari's grand ambitions, these deaths tarnish the country's image. On this basis, some observers accuse Qatar of downplaying its much lower death toll (around 37), while FIFA has decided to renew its support for the country.

However, if they are proven, the facts alleged against the host country contravene FIFA's human rights policy, which is committed "to respecting all human rights (... ) and promoting their protection".

Inconceivable for the Norwegian team whose players have launched an action for the cause of migrants but also to alert FIFA. They wore shirts that read: "Human rights, on and off the pitch".

Teams from Germany and the Netherlands also conveyed similar messages.

Other football clubs have called for a boycott. Will they go through with it?

Ms Monlouis brings her expert assessment of football overall and globally and on Africa, which remains the focus on our TV channel. Her football knowledge has always impressed me; she can write about it without being a professional athlete in this field. The bonus for me comes from the analyses and legal advice she brings to our audience.
