The African Nations Championship has made its history. Indeed, this is a great first for Lydia Tadesse, during the meeting between Namibia and Tanzania on January 23.

The young Ethiopian referee became the first woman to officiate in a match in an official men's competition of the African Football Confederation (CAF).

She is now following in the footsteps of French referee Stéphanie Frappart, the first female referee to lead an international men's meeting in official competition in 2019, during the League of Nations, and to referee in the Men's Champions League in 2020.
